Trust Your Truth

‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way
– Born This Way/ Lady Gaga

Here’s my simple argument in favor of living, working, and thriving from your innate strengths:

I agree 100% with Lady Gaga, “God makes no mistakes.”

Here you are, a reflection of DIVINE CREATION. You’re made by the force that makes no mistakes. Why then, would you ever veer from your natural strengths?

You were set up for amazing success by coming into this world wired with what makes you YOU.

Look at animals and plants. They live from their natural strengths without any resistance or complaining. So why don’t enough people trust their truth?

Mostly because we force ourselves to adapt to other people’s expectations or we accept as true any limited messages about what we can or can’t do.

Your TRUTH is what you do well.

It’s literally in your DNA to succeed and to make your mark on the world. The FUN part is finding how to live in this complicated world that keeps taking us further and further away from understanding ourselves.

Watch a group of 3 and 4 year olds play. They know their truth. Some kids roll in the grass and are completely engrossed with the feel of ground on their skin. Others pick up sticks and play fight. Others pick up sticks and have puppet shows. Some have found ways to be funny. Left alone to choose what they love, kids veer towards their strengths.

You can too.

The first step is to TRUST. Trust that what comes naturally to you has value and can support your success.

When you have that trust in place, then you can do assessments and inventories to reveal more of what’s inside.

But without the trust, you could very well continue letting the outside voices rule you

Don’t gloss over this. You don’t suddenly say “OK, I trust myself” then move on. You measure trust in yourself when your back is up against the wall and you have to make the choice. You have to risk being vulnerable, risk doing the “wrong thing” (even though inside you know it’s right), and risk looking foolish.

That doesn’t mean you’ll fall and get hurt, it just means you have to have the WILLINGNESS to be vulnerable. Big difference. But then again, you just may fall and get hurt… can you trust enough to take that chance?

Here are a few ways to build trust so the rest of this can slide into place.[headline style=”14″ font_size=”20″ font_style=”bold” align=”center” headline_tag=”h2″]Learning to Trust 101[/headline][step_graphics style=”5″ color=”#ee2530″][step style=”5″ text=”1″ headline=”Meditate%20or%20at%20least%20find%20a%20way%20to%20quiet%20down”]%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20have%20trouble%20quieting%20your%20mind%20and%20can%E2%80%99t%20sit%20still%20for%20more%20than%20a%20minute%2C%20find%20some%20special%20music%20to%20aid%20concentration%20and%20focus.%20Did%20you%20know%20on%20YouTube%20you%20can%20find%20hours%20and%20hours%20of%20sleep%20music%2C%20meditation%20music%2C%20and%20study%20music%20for%20free%3F%20Just%20plug%20that%20in%20and%20play%20it%20while%20you%20quiet%20your%20mind.%20%3C%2Fp%3E%0A[/step][step style=”5″ text=”2″ headline=”Do%20something%20out%20of%20the%20ordinary”]%3Cp%3EWrite%20with%20your%20non-dominant%20hand.%20Drive%20home%20on%20a%20different%20route.%20Say%20%E2%80%9CI%20love%20you%E2%80%9D%20to%20someone%20who%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20be%20expecting%20it.%20Train%20your%20mind%20to%20function%20in%20a%20new%20way%20so%20it%20supports%20you%20as%20you%20embrace%20your%20truth.%20%3C%2Fp%3E%0A[/step][step style=”5″ text=”3″ headline=”Create%20a%20real%20life%20mantra”]%3Cp%3ELook%2C%20I%E2%80%99ll%20save%20you%20a%20trip%20to%20the%20mountaintop.%20A%20mantra%20is%20something%20as%20simple%20as%20a%20phrase%20to%20keep%20you%20focused%20and%20pointed%20in%20the%20right%20direction.%20%E2%80%9CGod%20is%20my%20source%E2%80%9D%20is%20what%20my%20friend%20Natasha%20says.%20%E2%80%9CAll%20is%20well%E2%80%9D%2C%20says%20another.%20%E2%80%9CYou%20got%20this%E2%80%9D.%20I%20love%20simplicity%20and%20real%20life%20use.%20If%20you%20fill%20yourself%20with%20an%20affirming%20phrase%2C%20trusting%20your%20truth%20will%20come%20a%20whole%20lot%20easier.%20%3C%2Fp%3E%0A[/step][step style=”5″ text=”4″ headline=”Don%E2%80%99t%20overshare”]%3Cp%3ELearning%20something%20new%2C%20especially%20something%20as%20heavy%20as%20learning%20to%20trust%2C%20needs%20time%20to%20cook.%20People%20are%20tempted%20to%20tell%20the%20world%20of%20what%20they%E2%80%99re%20doing%20and%20suddenly%20they%E2%80%99re%20barraged%20by%20naysayers%20and%20%E2%80%9Cconcerned%E2%80%9D%20friends.%20%E2%80%9CAre%20you%20sure%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20you%20want%3F%E2%80%9D%20%E2%80%9CHave%20you%20thought%20about%20the%20ramifications%3F%E2%80%9D%20%E2%80%9CHmmmm%20sounds%20kinda%20out%20there.%E2%80%9D%20Share%20only%20with%20people%20who%E2%80%99ll%20support%20you%20and%20hold%20your%20vision%20with%20you.%20There%E2%80%99s%20nothing%20more%20discouraging%20than%20getting%20a%20sideways%20glance%20from%20a%20loved%20one%20who%20means%20well%E2%80%A6%20but%20just%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20get%20it%20yet![/step][/step_graphics]

Let Go and Bubble Up

[feature_box style=”22″ only_advanced=”There%20are%20no%20title%20options%20for%20the%20choosen%20style” content_font_size=”16″ alignment=”center”]

Email was destroying my creativity. The pressure to read, respond, decide whether to keep or delete… it was killing me! I’d wake up in the morning already overwhelmed with yesterday’s unanswered emails, anticipating today’s emails, and dreading tomorrow’s emails.

Then, as a business owner, I had the pressure to MESSAGE MY LIST!!! It used to be “engagement” and “trust building”, now it was about hammering away relentlessly! Email marketing has turned into this endurance test, a duel to see who’ll be the last squeaky wheel standing.

*This is not a healthy way to live!*

Yep, annoyed. Me.  Totally. I’m owning that.

I finally said “Forget it.” Truthfully, I said another word that started with an “F”, and  would surely disappoint my late mother if she knew I was publicly using it. Ahem.

My solution was to lay low. I didn’t want to get caught up in finding my space in a space that was driving me crazy. It would be like rearranging the furniture in a jail cell… just didn’t make any sense.

So I hid out, kept emails to a minimum, and allowed myself to explore things other than obsessing on my emails!

It wasn’t easy, but it did allow me the space to engage in something that means the world to me: BUBBLE UP.

BUBBLE UP is my life force. It’s God working in my life, the complete reassurance that the Universe sets itself back into order when things feel chaotic.

What is Bubble Up? Well, in a nutshell it’s a creative release process I use. You’ll love the ending, leaving with a big “aha” and the world all makes sense. You just need patience and faith during the process… and you can’t quit until you catch some bubbles!

Bubble Up text

You Too Can Bubble Up

It’s a fun process that you can adapt to your own creative goals. Maybe you want to figure out something for your business. Maybe you want to dial in an offer. Maybe you want to write a book. Maybe you want to make more money.  Let’s have a go at it and see what bubbles up for you.

1. Affirm that this process won’t kill you

This is important! People, if you don’t step into this with faith it’s not going to work. You’re not going to get stung, be made a fool of, or die. You’re opening up a creative Pandora’s box…  but it’ll tidy itself up. I promise.

 2. Brainstorm

This is the fun part. You pull out all the pieces of the problem that are driving you crazy. Here’s an example. My client, Toni, was going nuts trying to figure out what to lead with in her business. She had 2 things she was great at and was really confused which one she should make her name with.

One made perfect sense on paper… but it wasn’t her passion. She was good at it, but she wasn’t passionate.

The other made perfect sense in her heart… but it wasn’t making any money.

We started brainstorming about things that define who she is because ultimately, her problem was around identity in her business. We explored her values. Her strengths. Her passion. The list got long. This primed her for the next part.

3. Let Frustration Happen

“Argh! Why can’t I just figure this out!” she exclaimed.

I talked her off the ledge and had her stick with me. “The frustration is awesome.”, I told her.  “That means you’re ready to stop using your head to get through this.”

As soon as she did the next step, things started to happen.

4. Surrender

Steps 1-3 get you to the meat of the matter: Surrender.

The problem most people have with solving problems is they try to solve the problem from the place of the problem! Surrender means giving up your rational mind’s control over the situation. It’s letting things go, relinquishing control, and allowing a divine process to emerge. Yes, my friends, God takes control. (And you really thought it was YOU the whole time?)

This is the power of Bubble Up. You swim around in the muck until your arms are tired, then you give up and say “I can’t do this!” You stop struggling, stop fighting, and trust. Next thing you know, you’ve loosened your grip.

Toni gave up trying to figure things out. She has a degree from one of those fancy pants colleges so she’s used to finding solutions. Yet she couldn’t here… and it allowed the next step to happen.

5. Catch Bubbles

As soon as you reach this point of surrender and not knowing, it’s bubble catching time! So here’s Toni, a pile of used tissues next to her because she was just so DONE with the agony of not knowing what to lead with, and it started to happen.

I asked her the same questions I’d asked her a few minutes earlier. I had no agenda in what she chose, just support for her to find what meant the most to her.

“If this were your last day on earth, would you choose this as your life’s work?”

One choice- the sensible on paper choice- got a resounding NO.

The other got an enthusiastic YES.

And more bubbles began to emerge. She connected dots she couldn’t see before.

“Well, actually it’s not an either/or! Look at this… I can lead with the thing I’m passionate about, and incorporate the ‘sensible’ thing into it… without giving up either! Oh this is what I’ve spent YEARS trying to get clear on!!”

Years.

Years of struggle and turmoil. We solved it with a short amount of time in the muck, tired out her sensible side and then she took off with it.

Toni was on fire. She had something to say. She knew why she wanted to say it. She knew who her message was for.

Problem solved.

Creativity on fire.

Enthusiasm for her work ran off the charts.

This release works. Not only did it solve Toni’s “Who am I?” problem, but it gave me a solution too.

My email problem was the thing needed to take me to frustration. Throwing my hands up in the air, I gave up. When I gave up, I suddenly started getting ideas for backlogged projects I’d almost given up on. A book outline popped into my brain. The same book outline I had been torturing myself to create for the past year. I feel like badassery in action!

The outline led to a revised message for my own work… do you see how this stuff goes much deeper than “how to” tips? Did you see how I mentioned G-O-D? I’d never do that before… it was in my mind, but I convinced myself not to share those things publicly. This led to new ways to talk to my present and future clients about the power of their inner genius. How it’s divine and their perfect work. It led to this blog post after months of letting my blog lay fallow.

My release, Toni’s release, and the releases that my clients experience clears confusion out of the way. You know which way to go and can then take passionate action. That’s as good as gold, especially when you’re tired of being stuck in the muck.

So go on… Bubble away 🙂

And to find out about doing the work with me, just drop me a line.

The Awkward Marketing Message: Go For It

By Market Positioning, Uncategorized No Comments
[feature_box style=”22″ only_advanced=”There%20are%20no%20title%20options%20for%20the%20choosen%20style” content_font_size=”16″ content_font_style=”normal” alignment=”center”] Is it ever OK to have an AWKWARD marketing message?

Well, if your awkwardness includes sweaty palms, a penchant to dress up as a Bay City Roller,  and the uncontrollable urge to curse people out, I’d say  take a breather before proceeding.

But… if your awkwardness is more about revealing who you really are, showing up authentically, and even slightly vulnerably… my advice is to GO FOR IT.

Case in point: a client of mine, let’s call her “Anna” (not her real name), has transitioned from an entirely word-of-mouth marketing model to one that requires her getting out there and calling forth her ideal clients.

She’s never had to market her services before- her clients basically did that for her with endless referrals. Things like “client attraction” and “marketing” have all been foreign to her.

She’s in a different situation now. She needs to market and marketing is unfamiliar and uncomfortable.

Anna has a program coming up that she wants to fill. She’s meeting her lack of experience with marketing head-on as she gets the word out and connects with prospective clients. One thing she wanted to do was to send an email to her past clients and connections but since she NEVER emailed them before about working together, it felt really AWKWARD.

“What do I say? Should I start with telling them what the program is, how much it costs, and all the details? What if they think I’m crazy? I’ve never had to do this. I feel so weird contacting them. What if I turn them off? What if they don’t get what I’m doing?”, and on and on.

Anna’s head was in spin.

As Anna’s anxiety about communicating to her contacts increased, I suddenly had an idea.

“Anna, what you’re saying about not knowing what to say and if you’ll turn them off… is beautiful. It’s also brilliant. And I think you need to say, in your email, exactly what you’re saying right now.”

“Really?”, sighed Anna. (I could literally hear her voice change and become more calm as she spoke).

“Really”, I replied.

Anna was advised to be vulnerable. To email people and start with “You know what? I NEVER send emails about my programs and so this is a little awkward for me. But I know that this is something you’d benefit from so I’m willing to risk being vulnerable and just come right out and share what is going on.”

If you’re feeling awkward, and you know people will see your marketing as out of character for you, then just bring it out into the open! I challenge you to trust-fall into this exercise.

Here are some guidelines- and remember to take a big breath before you hit send!

1. ADDRESS THE AWKWARDNESS

If you’re doing something out of character or completely new and it’s freaking you out, there’s a place to address this. Just say “This isn’t what I normally do, but this is important so I’m willing to risk looking silly if it means I can help someone.” Like Anna, it gives you a place to be honest and make an emotional imprint on others.

2. DON’T BE WHINY

No need to take your story to the nth degree, otherwise it’ll sound whiny. “Well, I had a toothache and then it turned out I needed a root canal, and I had to go on antibiotics, then I had a reaction because I didn’t know I was allergic, and so I was out of it for like 5 months. It really sucked. Then my dog got sick and my car broke down. But hey, I have this program coming up that I think you need!”

3. DON’T BE DESPERATE

Like the whiny warning, don’t use this attempt to milk people’s sympathy. “I’m broke and I can’t pay my taxes, can you please buy something?’ That’s not using authentic awkwardness to build trust… that’s just being manipulative.

4. STAY AUTHENTIC

You’re doing this from a good place in your heart. Stay connected to that feeling.

5. DON’T WORRY TOO MUCH

Somebody will misinterpret your actions. Somebody somewhere will tell you that you should NEVER show your vulnerable side. I suggest you not worry so much about that. You’re stepping into being your truthful, honest, lovably awkward self in business and there are people out there who will stick with you because of it.

Don’t worry about getting this “right” because there is no standard of right and wrong for this. Just trust that when you’re working from the heart, amazing things will happen!

More Naps, Less Work: 5 Benefits Of Being an Expert

By Market Positioning, Uncategorized No Comments

Orange Kitty knows how to chill

Take it from my nap-loving orange cat:  there are far more reasons to take a nap than to slave away working yourself to the bone.

Ah, but perhaps you were raised by HUMANS who over-emphasized the virtues of hard work. And you may say, “But I own a business- if I don’t work, who will?”

I’m not saying to abandon work and responsibilities, but chances are you’re working harder and not working smarter. One of the BEST ways you can leverage your time, effort, and energy is to smartly position yourself as an expert. When you do that, you become more visible, opportunities come to you, and you don’t have to toil so hard reaching out to people one by one.

Here are 5 reasons why you want to showcase your expertise and make it a big part of your marketing so you can work smarter and not harder:

1. Experts have the “wow” factor

Being a recognized expert raises your status. People see you as an authority and sometimes even as a celebrity in your field. That “wow” factor captures people’s attention so their eyes and ears are on you… and not on your competitors!

2. Experts get traffic

Your expertise can boil down to a searchable keyword or phrase. When you use that in your marketing, then web searchers find you when seeking a solution. You become top of mind and top of the search engines. Your lead generation magnifies and people find out about you without any effort on your part!

3. Experts get interviewed

Positioning your business around your expertise alerts the media that you’re an expert with something to say. Reporters, radio hosts, podcasters, TV shows, and cable shows are always looking for guest experts to speak on topics of interest.

 4. Experts get clients

Because of your increased visibility, people get to know, like, and trust you faster. As a result, they’re more open to hearing about how to work with you. Your credibility is already established and you don’t have to work as hard to prove yourself. Plus, your expert status makes you the obvious choice for clients looking to work with the best!

5. Experts leave a legacy

As an expert, you influence the world. Your advice, tips, and wisdom shape others who’ll go on to impact people in their lives. When you share your expertise, you’re not just shaping one life- you’re shaping many!

Action Step:

What are you doing to get your expertise into the world? How are you using it to attract clients and opportunities?

10 Tips to Create Killer Content

By Market Positioning No Comments

“Content is King” when positioning yourself as an expert. But what do you do when you run dry on ideas? What do you talk about? What do you write about? Who cares?

First of all, LOTS of people care. When you create content, you’re taking your wisdom and packaging it so others can learn from it. It can be something as simple as a checklist or as elaborate as a video series.

Follow these 10 tips so creating content is always on your mind and something you do on a regular basis to promote your business.

1. Listen

Keep your eyes and ears open and look for teachable moments. Tie your content into everyday life with analogies that loop back to your area of expertise.

2. Survey

Ask your list, friends, network, or Facebook connections questions to help you understand what people want. Find out the challenges and obstacles people are facing then create content to address those issues.

3.  Repurpose

A single topic can be repurposed into multiple formats and still stay fresh and relevant. For example, an article you write could be turned into the topic for a video, webinar, blog post, podcast, speech. People will consume the same information in multiple formats- repurposing will help you do that.

4. Repackage

Look back at things you’ve created over the past months or years. Bundle similar topics together into a repackaged version. It gives new life to your content!

5. Report

Find something to report on whether it’s in your industry or from information you collect. Publish it in multiple formats to leverage.

6. Piggyback

Is there a hot topic in the news? Something everyone is talking about? Put your opinion or findings together and piggyback on the idea. What will make you stand out is having your own opinion and using your content to differentiate yourself from the rest.

7. Systematize

Create an editorial calendar and use it to brainstorm topics you’ll use in your content. Be consistent with your topics so people can easily identify your expertise with the solution they need.

8. Collaborate

Team up with a colleague and co-create content. Interview each other, create something together, or cross promote.

9. Rant

Nothing gets the blood up like a good old rant. Is there something you want to speak up about? Let that fuel your content.

10. Recycle

Like repurposing and repackaging, recycling is giving life to existing content. If you have something you created years ago that’s just collecting dust, bring it out for a revival!

Remember: creating content anchors your status as a recognized expert. Take these tips and get your message out there!

Worst Advice I’ve Heard on Positioning Your Business

By Market Positioning, Uncategorized No Comments
[feature_box style=”22″ only_advanced=”There are no title options for the choosen style” content_font_size=”16″ content_font_style=”normal” alignment=”left”]

How you position yourself is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO FOCUS ON if you want to make money as a coach, consultant, trainer, speaker, or healer.

Why? Because your positioning is an all-encompassing form of communication: it’s your energy, your presence, your branding, your message, and your value all rolled into one.

When selling your expertise, your positioning is what’s going to attract people to you and get them to YES.

But many people are doling out BAD ADVICE that’s hurting, not helping, entrepreneurs. Here are 3 of the  WORST pieces of advice I’ve ever heard about positioning… and what you can do about it.

Bad Advice #1: Be Intimidating

Being an authority in your field does not mean you have to brandish a tough guy/tough chick look or make yourself untouchable. There are people out there who say you need to create a fear factor around yourself to intimidate others… and that’s how they’ll listen to your advice and respect you.

Really?

And somehow trust is going to pop up there? Aren’t these tactics the ones used by dictators and cult leaders?

Whoever is telling you to be this way does NOT have your best interest in mind. Be approachable. Be yourself. Smile. You’ll attract way more people with that than the scowl of intimidation.

Bad Advice #2: Copy The Guru

You see someone who’s really successful. They wear purple. They love sailing. They love horses. They hold 3 live events a year. They have sparkly letters on their website. Their logo is in a swirly font. They have a dog.

Suddenly, you’re feeling compelled to be that person. Or worse yet, you’re being advised to copy that person.

Purple’s not your color, but hey, maybe it’ll turn you into a hot seller! Sailing makes you green in the gills, but you gotta get that picture of yourself on a boat to be just like your idol! You’re looking at sparkly, swirly logos ready to redo your website.

Do you see where this is going? Downhill fast.

Be you. Period. Everyone else is taken.

Find what defines YOU and never feel bad about it!

Bad Advice #3: Branding = Positioning

Branding is important- it conveys visual information that will attract your ideal clients. But positioning isn’t branding and branding isn’t positioning.

Some branding “experts” just want to make a logo for you and call it a day. There’s no thought into the larger picture of you, your expertise, and the power of your Talent and Genius.

Before you sink money into branding, fully understand how you want to position yourself. Ask yourself my 4 Essential Questions:

  • What are you great at?
  • Why is this important?
  • Who is it meant for?
  • Why you?

This will give you greater clarity and ensure that your brand is a true reflection of your Talent and Genius.

10 Tips To Keep Clients

By Build Your Business, Uncategorized No Comments

Guess what?

Getting clients isn’t all about finding new people day after day to fill your programs. So many people think that doing business involves a never-ending chase for the new prospect. In addition to keeping your business open to welcome new clients, don’t forget about your existing clients and how you can continue to work together.

With a balanced approach, you can still get your name out there so new clients find you, yet  retain the clients you currently have.

I’ve been asked this question a lot so I created a list of 10 ways you can retain clients so they can continue their transformations, and you can continue getting paid.

You’ll notice that the first half of these tips involve client care and personal interactions. I list these because you need to have an ongoing culture of client appreciation and celebration. If someone feels valued by you, they’re less likely to go elsewhere for help.

I’ve also included a few tactical efforts- specific things you can do in your business RIGHT NOW to create new revenue streams.

1. Put client care first: treat your clients like gold from the start

This should be a given. Be good to your clients and they’ll be good to you!

2. Track progress together

It’s important to keep track of clients’ progress together. Keep records of where people were when they started with you, and where they are now. Review progress as a regular part of your interactions so your clients see all the big changes happening for them.

3. Celebrate results!

Celebrate your clients as often as possible. Whether it’s a shout out on Facebook , a quick email, or acknowledgment on a phone call, make it a regular practice to celebrate results.

4. Remember special occasions

A simple card, flowers, or a thoughtful birthday gift can mean the world to your client. It’s that extra touch that people remember and appreciate.

5. Offer entry to a higher level program (Upsell)

Design your programs so people have the opportunity to continue with you on a higher, more intense level if that’s the right fit. If someone takes a 4 week class with you, then invite them to a 90 Day Inner Circle, a live retreat, or another way to take the deeper dive.

6. Offer to repeat

Someone might want to take your program again- don’t deny the chance for repeat business if you can create this!

7. Offer entry to a continuity program

A continuity program is anything that gives clients the chance to stay on working with you for either an ongoing monthly charge or for a specified price/duration. Continuity programs operate like memberships- clients get access to materials, resources, coaching, etc as long as they’re members.

8. Give a special Alumni Offer

Value your clients by giving them special Alumni Offers. You can give them a special price to show how much you appreciate their ongoing business.

9. Offer “Client Only” Perks They Can’t Resist

Make being your client the coolest thing on the planet! Find things to share that ONLY your clients get access to. It turns your clients into VIP Rock Stars!

10. Always Let Your Clients Know You Value and Cherish Them!

Much of client retention has to do with how a person feels while they’re your client. Letting your clients know they’re special and valued keeps them in your world. Make it your top priority to create a world your clients LOVE to be in!

I’ve got a great resource to add to your Swipe File!

So many people come to me with blank looks on their faces when we address their unique genius.

“Well, I know there are things I love and things I do well, but I’m not really sure how important those are.”

Well, bibbidy-bobbidy-boo, let’s take care of that situation with a copy-and-tweak letter you can send to friends, colleagues, and anyone who can share qualified feedback with you. The goal is for them to reflect back to you what they see as your strengths.

As a sidenote, let me share a few things first:

1. You have Talent and Genius. It’s just easier to see everyone else’s before you see your own.

2. Things that come easily and effortlessly to you are usually NOT valued by you. They’re valued by everyone else and the whole world will tell you how incredible these are, but that little voice in you that messes with your mind will continue to spew out “Yeah, right.”

3. Get feedback from qualified people. As I often say to people who ask the wrong question to the wrong person, “Don’t go to the hardware store looking for a loaf of bread.”

4. I call this a “copy- and-tweak” letter. Change the wording up a bit so it sounds like you. Add in any other things you’d like to include.

5. Have fun- and use these answers to spark a new range of ideas to describe what you do!

Dear <friend’s name>,

I’ve been asked to complete an exercise that requires other people’s perspective of me. Because I trust you and you know me, I’ve chosen you.

Please answer these questions and send them back to me- your first thoughts are the best thoughts!

1- If you could describe me in 3 adjectives, what would those be?

2- What do you think I’m GREAT at doing?

3- In what situations do you think I operate at my best?

4- What do you see as something that sets me apart from others?

5- Anything else?

Thank you for your help with this!

Sincerely,

<Your Name>

Wild Idea: Media Spots That Still Pay Off!

By Business Motivation, Uncategorized No Comments

Here’s another gem from a series I created a while back called The Wild Idea That Paid Off.

The Wild Idea That Paid Off celebrates creative risk taking that defied common sense and netted big gains. In this segment, I tell a powerful story about my own path that illustrates 3 big points:

1. Don’t wait until you know everything.
2. Learn how to improvise.
3. Leverage the heck out of opportunities!

Using this philosophy, I took a bold move with a seemingly insignificant event and turned it into massive media attention that still pays off today. Listen in below:
